Santa‘s Toot-Toot in Fells Point

Looking for something to do this weekend?

Want to get into the Christmas spirit?

Then come down to Fell’s Point for their 9th Annual Olde Tyme Christmas for a whole weekend of festivities.

This weekend marks the holiday season in Fells Point and marks the start of the Christmas Market, the one stop shop for all your holiday arts, crafts, and favors.

Some key events happening tonight are horse sleigh rides, Christmas music by Mix 106.5, holiday beer and wine tastings, and an address from Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

And what better way to celebrate the 1st of December than with Santa’s arrival on a tugboat! Saturday is also sung with live Christmas Caroling and music with Santa’s arrival, gingerbread house making, Christmas Tree lighting, pub crawls, and more.Sunday ends with pet costume contests, wine and beer tastings, and studio dance and art.

The event is free and proceeds from the Olde Tyme Christmas will go to the Baltimore City Police Explorers Program, a police youth mentor program. The program exposes thousands of Baltimore youth to anti-crime and pro-education messages.

Check out Olde Tyme Christmas for details of each event. Also look at Santa’s entrance last year.

English: Santa Claus with a little girl Espera...

Where is Santa?

Next week is Thanksgiving which marks the start of the holiday season. But if you’re in the holiday spirit already, then you’ll want to find the person that embodies the season of giving, Santa Claus.

So, where can you find that holly jolly St. Nick around Baltimore?

So to get everyone in the mood for the holiday season. We tweeted Santa and he told us where he’s going to be this season. Here’s where he and his little elves will be around our charmed city this weekend.

Inner Harbor
Watch his arrival tomorrow, Saturday, from 5-7 as he brings his merry workers down to his downtown workshop. Right in the heart of the Inner Harbor, Santa’s put his workshop for all to see. While people are touring the city they can stop by and talk to good ol’ St. Nick.

While your there check out the light show spectacular at the Power Plant. The iconic Power Plant has been transformed to give a Holiday Light Show to get anyone in the holiday mood. Check out the times the lights will come to life.

Towson Town Center
While your checking off your grown up Christmas list and check it twice, stop and drop it off to Santa personally at Towson.

Arundel Mills
Take a break from gambling, movie watching, and spend some time with Santa right near the food court.

Also if you’re looking for more Holiday events around the city check out It’s a Waterfront Life. It lists a lot of holiday events around the city.

What Will Make This Day Worthwhile?

Thursday gets a bad rap. It’s the eve before Friday. There’s not much to do unless you have something special planned.

There’s no popular song or place about Thursday. There’s Ruby Tuesday’s, TGI Fridays, Never On Sundays (Great local restaurant in Mt. Vernon, try their “STS” when you get the chance. It’s called that for a reason), but nothing cool for Thursdays.

So today what we want to know is what do you do on Thursdays?

But today instead of learning about a cool place around Baltimore to check out or showcase another Baltimore organization, we want to hear from you?

If you’re in college and today marks the start of your weekend, you’ll probably hit the local bar with your friends. Which one?

If your taking a dance class, yoga, spin, martial arts, run, hike? Tell us know!

On this mundane Thursday:
What will you do or want to do after work to make this Thursday worth it?

Let us know!

Run With RG3

In strictlybaltimore, Uncategorized on October 17, 2012 at 7:11 pm

Run with RG3!

With this year’s Baltimore Running Festival being a huge success this year, today we will focus on a group that will help you keep your feet moving well until the next marathon.

The Run, Gap, Gulp and Go Club, also known as RG3 (Not to be confused the Washington Redskins quarterback, Robert Griffin III, RG3) is a well established Baltimore running group that has been around since 2008.

Trail running through Gunpowder Falls or a light Baltimore run through Patterson Park, with over 800 members, your bound to find a member near you. This group holds weekly group runs around the Baltimore city and Maryland area landscape in search of great runs for the group. Joining a run with this group will allow you to take in the sights and sounds of nature around Baltimore and Maryland’s trails and parks.

The group’s name, Run, Gab, Gulp, and Go, can be best summed up by their mission statement on their webpage:

RG3 GabsA great way to take our minds off of those miles!

RG3 GulpsAfter our runs we have to hydrate, so whether the group goes for water, coffee or beer… We’re having fun!

RG3 Goes – On our way, refreshed and ready for the next workout! Everything’s optional but the running.

If you’re wondering when their next run is then grab your good running shoes because it will be this Sunday Morning, October 21, at 8:30 AM at the BWI Trail. They will be meeting in the parking lot of the Lindale Middle School and be running 10.5 miles along the trail.

If your up for more of a challenge, extend that run a little longer by meeting up with them earlier at 7 AM for a 6.5 mile pre-jog. That’s a 17 mile run! Click here to learn more and RSVP so you won’t be left behind.

Joining this club is free and encouraged. Check out their website to see what else they are up to.

Know of any great scenic or group runs? Comment below, join them and tell them or host an event. Their always down to talk and jog.
