Where is Santa?

Next week is Thanksgiving which marks the start of the holiday season. But if you’re in the holiday spirit already, then you’ll want to find the person that embodies the season of giving, Santa Claus.

So, where can you find that holly jolly St. Nick around Baltimore?

So to get everyone in the mood for the holiday season. We tweeted Santa and he told us where he’s going to be this season. Here’s where he and his little elves will be around our charmed city this weekend.

Inner Harbor
Watch his arrival tomorrow, Saturday, from 5-7 as he brings his merry workers down to his downtown workshop. Right in the heart of the Inner Harbor, Santa’s put his workshop for all to see. While people are touring the city they can stop by and talk to good ol’ St. Nick.

While your there check out the light show spectacular at the Power Plant. The iconic Power Plant has been transformed to give a Holiday Light Show to get anyone in the holiday mood. Check out the times the lights will come to life.

Towson Town Center
While your checking off your grown up Christmas list and check it twice, stop and drop it off to Santa personally at Towson.

Arundel Mills
Take a break from gambling, movie watching, and spend some time with Santa right near the food court.

Also if you’re looking for more Holiday events around the city check out It’s a Waterfront Life. It lists a lot of holiday events around the city.

Bump, set, spike, dig!

If you know these terms than you know it’s from volleyballBaltimore Beach Volleyball has an open beach volleyball pit right in the Inner Harbor. Typically on the weekends from 11 AM to 5 PM the Baltimore Beach Volleyball offers Drop-In play for $5 per person to play the whole day. (Check their main site here to see if they have changed the date or time of drop-in play. Sometimes they will close it due to inclement weather. Better to be safe then sorry.)

Located in the heart of the city the beach volleyball pit is located walking distance from all Baltimore hotels, attractions, and Baltimore universities. Whether you’ve played in men’s beach volleyball team in school or just a beginner you are more than welcome to come down to the sand and toss the ball around and meet new people. Also with the convenience of being in the Inner Harbor your never far from a distraction. Being a few blocks away from Federal Hill there are bars and restaurants to recharge your batteries.

If you’re looking for something a little more competitive than just a regular pick up game then consider joining the beach volleyball league. The fees to join are based on the team size but are around $60 per person and matches are scheduled every afternoon and night except for Saturdays. Click here for a run down of the leagues and format.

As with the regular limitations of being in the city parking is always an issue. But with the Baltimore Circulator you can take the bus to the volleyball pit for free from any of the major parts of the city. But if driving is your only option, the Lee St. Garage under the Harbor Court Tower offers a $6 flat rate with a purchase from the Light Street Pavilion.

Being outdoors pets, food, and beverages are more than welcome on the beach granted that you clean up after yourselves.

If you’re heading down there don’t forget to bring your camera. While you’ll want to take the great action shots of you and your friends having fun you’ll probably want to take a picture of the view itself. The backdrop of the beach volleyball pit shows the perfect skyline of Baltimore City.

Know any other great volleyball places or photo ops? Let us know.

Great Events, No Cost!

Now that the Fall season has come, the city of Baltimore decided to take the Month of November to highlight great organizations and museums by offering free events to the public.

Sponsored by Susquehanna Bank and the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, they shape the month of October to showcase the diversity and arts of the city.

With Free Fall Baltimore, those looking to partake in Baltimore sightseeing can take advantage of free admission to a number of iconic Museums around Baltimore. American Visionary Art Museum, Baltimore Museum of Art, The Star-Spangled Banner Flag House, and the Reginald F. Lewis Museum are just a few of the notable locations that offer free admission during certain days in October.

With all the events occurring in the metropolitan area it gives people more of an added value to visiting Baltimore.

For example, if your taking the family out to the National Aquarium in Baltimore on Saturday October 6, you can stop by the Star-Spangled Banner Flag house free admission and learn about the origins of our US Flag and National Anthem.

While Baltimore harbor may be the anchor for visitors, Free Fall Baltimore aims to look at the other organizations that are don’t get much exposure.  Take free dance classes from the Baltimore Dance Crews Project or go on a treasure hunt at the Amaranthine Museum. There are more than one event held each day keeping you busy this month of October.

Check out the schedule (with links!) and see what events you and your friends want to take part in.

Can’t make one of the events? Call up the organization and see when the next event there holding will be. I’m sure they would love you to come.

The only thing you have to lose is a wasted opportunity.

So go to an event and be a part of Baltimore!
